You won't believe which animals made the list of the smartest critters on the planet! Some of these guys have been getting a bad rap for centuries, but it's time to give them the recognition they deserve.
In first place, we have our feathered friends – specifically, African Grey Parrots, who are so intelligent that they have the same level of smarts as a 4-year-old child (according to a study by Harvard University).
In second place, we have domestic pigs, who have amazing long-term memories and can even recognise and remember animals or humans they've only seen once. Plus, they've been known to use their smarts to manipulate and influence the behaviour of other pigs.
Third place goes to mice, who have been the subject of scientific study for years because they're often used as lab animals. And it's no wonder – they're super intelligent and can learn and memorise both simple and more complex actions.
Horses come in fourth place on our list – they're not just graceful and charming, they're also super intelligent! They have both logical and emotional intelligence and can form deep connections with their owners and their environment.
In fifth place, we have the undisputed champions of canine intelligence: dogs. Not only are they fiercely loyal, they're also super smart and can learn all kinds of things if trained properly.
Raccoons come in sixth place – these little bandits may seem mischievous, but they're actually clever problem-solvers and are considered "creative" animals.
And last but not least, in seventh place we have cats. They have an incredible instinct that allows them to sense danger from far away, and their intelligence is more about adapting and solving problems.
